Batch editing here means two different things: generating multiple edit plan variants from one set of clips, and running several separate compilation projects in one working session. Both benefit from planning the order of operations before you start.
Importing for a batch session
ReelWorkshop accepts 1-100 clips per import. If you're producing several distinct compilations from one shoot — say, a highlight reel and a behind-the-scenes cut from the same footage — decide up front whether they draw from one combined import or separate ones. A single import lets local duplicate detection catch exact repeats across the whole set; separate imports keep projects cleanly divided but won't cross-check duplicates between them.
Generating multiple edit plans
From one imported batch, you can generate 1-20 distinct edit plans at 60, 75, or 90 seconds. For batch production, generate more variants than you need and use preview to cut the field down before rendering anything, rather than rendering everything and comparing afterward.

Managing the render queue at scale
The render queue shows progress for each item and supports cancel and retry. When queuing several renders back to back, keep the browser tab active and the device powered, since rendering happens locally via WebAssembly FFmpeg rather than on a remote server — a batch of renders is real, sustained local work, not a quick server dispatch.
The Starter plan includes 60 exported minutes per month. A batch of six 90-second exports uses 9 minutes; a batch of twenty does not fit in one month's allowance. Total your intended output durations before queuing a large batch.
Organizing batch projects
Signed-in users get saved projects with clips, settings, and edit plans retained, plus private cloud storage. For recurring batch work — a weekly content roundup, for instance — keep each week as its own project rather than reusing one project's clip list, so quality scores and duplicate detection stay scoped to that week's actual footage. This also makes it easier to figure out later which storage is safe to clear once its exports are downloaded and the project is closed out. Consider a project naming pattern with dates so you can find and clean up completed batches easily. Storage is capped at 25 GB, so batch producers should plan a routine for retiring old projects. Delete finished source clips you no longer need to keep storage room for new batches.
Mistakes to avoid
- Generating the maximum 20 edit plans out of habit rather than need, then spending render time or storage on far more variants than you'll ever use.
- Skipping the preview step under time pressure and discovering a weak edit only after it's rendered and counted against export minutes.
- Letting old batch projects accumulate in storage until you hit the 25 GB cap mid-session.
- Running a large batch import without noting which clips came from which shoot, making later reordering confusing.
